On Friday, September 8, 2023, Little Manila Rising is hosting a free Liwanag (Light) Film Screening for our community in Stockton. Liwanag (light) is a story-documentary featuring the lives of three Filipina front-line workers during the pandemic.
Topics in the film include the impact of COVID-19 and anti-Asian hate crimes on the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) community. As part of the event, we will be welcoming Patrick Roque, filmmaker of Liwanag, and directly impacted by hate crimes. We’ll be having a Q&A session, opportunities to get involved in the campaigns, and learn more about our upcoming programs including the Filipino Mental Health Focus Groups and Stop the Hate Reporting Tool here: https://209apic.org.
